GapSummit 2018

Global Biotech Revolution (GBR) is a student-led not-for-profit with the mission to inspire young people and support the next generation of leaders to ensure the sustainability and growth of the biotechnology industry. This is achieved through our three core values:

Challenge: To challenge current knowledge, challenge industrial dogmas, challenge current leaders, and challenge each other

Grow: To grow through acquiring knowledge, training, skills, and perspectives of young leaders. To inspire future leaders to grow their local bio-economies and look beyond to see the impact they can make globally

Connect: To connect with leaders of today, connect with each other and inspire other students worldwide

We engage key stakeholders through conferences and online material to initiate and build global conversations and collaborations.

GBR’s flagship event is the GapSummit. It is the world's first global and inter-generational leadership summit in biotechnology, with the mission to inspire and engage the next generation of leaders. 100 future bio-leaders from around the world are selected to attend. The GapSummit 2018 will be held in Cambridge at the historic Old Divinity School. Both previous events in Cambridge, GapSummit 2014 and GapSummit 2016, have proven a great success and have also led to the formation of several new ventures, led by young GapSummit attendees.

The GapSummit consists of keynote presentations, panel discussions, workshops and interactive interviews, addressing 7 key gaps in biotechnology:

1. Innovation
2. Funding
3. Future Health and Personalised Medicine
4. Biomaterials
5. Policy-making in Pharma and Biotech
6. Accessing Global Markets
7. Road from Academia to Industry
